The Invisible Woman, the 1940 A. Edward Sutherland Universal science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy screwball comedy ("Original Story by Kurt [Curt] Siodmak and Joe May"; Siodmak had written "The Invisible Man Returns" shortly before this, and he wrote most of the Universal horror movies of this period, and the following year, he wrote "The Wolf Man"; this sequel of sorts is played for laughs; Barrymore is a somewhat mad scientist who invents an invisibility potion, and he finds a beautiful model who volunteers as a guinea pig, because she needs to get even with her mean boss, and Oscar Homolka also volunteers, because he wants to steal the secret and make a fortune) starring Virginia Bruce (in the title role as Kitty Carroll/The Invisible Woman), John Barrymore, John Howard, Charlie Ruggles, Oscar Homolka, Maria Montez, Margaret Hamilton, and Shemp Howard
