An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) Bedlam, the 1946 Mark Robson London England mental asylum historical horror thriller ("Shocking truth about history's most ill-famed house of horror!"; "Sensational secrets of infamous mad-house Exposed!"; "Beauty at the Mercy of Madmen!"; "Within The Walls of Horror House!"; "Produced by Val Lewton"; about a young woman who is appalled by the conditions at a mental asylum in 18th century London, and she works to improve it, but the evil master of the place, played by Karloff, successfully maneuvers to get her committed to the asylum!) starring Boris Karloff, Anna Lee, Billy House, Richard Fraser, Glen Vernon, Ian Wolfe, Jason Robards Sr., Leyland Hodgson (billed as "Leland Hodgson"), Joan Newton, and Elizabeth Russell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked and during the backing process, its defects were repaired and it now looks nice. From any distance away, you can't see what restoration was done. It may have had only very minor defects, or it may have had more significant defects that were well restored. It is possible that you can see SOME traces of the restoration from a distance, but if so, we clearly note it below. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had a 4" tear in the top right corner in the green and yellow background areas just above the "!". There were three light, slightly diagonal fine scuff lines starting in the dress of the woman at middle left running down through the title. Other than the above defects, the poster only had some minor smudges and creases. You can still see signs of the above defects, but they are really not very distracting, and they are basically pretty minor. The poster is in pretty nice condition and it is mostly unrestored. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
