An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 13" x 22") (Learn More) The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (sometimes called "Treasure of Sierra Madre"), the classic 1948 John Huston (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) gold mining melodrama ("They sold their souls for ....The Treasure of the Sierra Madre"; "Warner Bros. hit a new high in high adventure... Bringing another great best-seller to the screen!"; "The nearer they get to their treasure the farther they get from the law!"; "Based on the Novel by B. Traven"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about three men who prospect for gold and the mixed blessings they find when they discover much gold) starring Humphrey Bogart (as Fred C. Dobbs), Walter Huston (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Tim Holt, Bruce Bennett, Barton MacLane, Alfonso Bedoya (as Gold Hat), John Huston (the director, as the man who gives Bogart money three times), and Robert 'Bobby' Blake. Note that the author of the book this classic movie was based on was written by a VERY unusual man known as "B. Traven", and you might want to research him, because it is amazing that no one has made a book about his life! Also note that Tim Holt's father appeared in a tiny cameo role in the "flop house" scene, as a fun favor to his son. Also note that there is an urban legend that Ann Sheridan plays the hooker who Humphrey Bogart sees after he gets cleaned up. Actually, that is not Ann Sheridan in the film, but she DID get made up for that scene, and there are still photos of her, so it is almost true! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card has a completely different image from that of the one-sheet (and a much better image of Humphrey Bogart), and I think it is fair to say it is a much better image overall! There is a paper snipe glued to the top of the card (over the top blank area), and another paper snipe glued over the bottom blank area of the card (Warner Bros. cards at this time had large top and bottom blank areas). This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good to very good. It appears that 1/2" was very neatly trimmed from the left and right blank borders, but only because the card measures 13" wide (it does not appear to be trimmed when you look closely at the borders, and they seem to be the normal size). There is a 2" x 3" diagonal piece of paper loss in the right center of the card, but fortunately, it is mostly all blank paper, except for the very bottom of the end quote marks, a tiny bit of the "E" of "MADRE", and the top of the mountain peak. Someone taped a piece from another card to the back of that area and then re-drew in the missing details described above. Other than the above, the card is in quite nice condition!
