An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (released in other English-speaking countries as "Abbott and Costello Meet the Ghosts"), the 1948 Charles T. Barton monster horror spoof comedy ("It's a grand New idea for Fun!"; the eighth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this time they added their #1 comedy team to both liven up the series, and to inject comedy; many people fondly remember this as their favorite of the 1940s Frankenstein movies!; "Jeepers! The Creepers are after Bud and Lou!"; "The laughs are MONSTERous! Bud and Lou are in a stew when they tangle with the Titans of Terror!"; "The monsters of menace vs the masters of Mirth!") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Lon Chaney Jr. ("The Wolf Man played by Lon Chaney"), Bela Lugosi (returning as Dracula after being long absent from the role; "Dracula played by Bela Lugosi"), Glenn Strange (in the title role, playing the Frankenstein monster; "The Monster played by Glenn Strange"), Lenore Aubert, Jane Randolph, Frank Ferguson, Charles Bradstreet, and Vincent Price (in a cute cameo, as the voice of The Invisible Man at the end of the movie!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was bought by a collector in the 1960s! He kept it for around 20 years, and then sold it to another longtime collector, who has kept it all these remaining years! Also note that this is an extremely rare poster that is almost never offered for sale. Partly, this is likely due to the movie getting a very quick re-release in 1956, which might have used up all of the original posters at that time, and it is also likely partly due to this movie being incredibly popular for both Spook Shows and Saturday matinees! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster was folded once in each direction and it has creases along the foldlines. It has creases, tiny tears, and a few smudges around the edges. It has small paper loss in the lower right blank border, with a tape stain above and below it, and a similar tear near the middle of the left border, with tape stains above and below that tear, and decades ago, someone did amateur restoration to both those areas, replacing the missing piece on the right border, and then painting the blank borders in both areas to cover the tape stain. That same person put a small piece of tape on the back of a 1/2" tear in the far right of the bottom blank border. There are a few creases scattered in the poster, more so in the lower left white background area. The poster has never had any restoration, except for the amateur restoration described above. This poster is certainly not perfect, but I think it displays well just as it is (especially if it were matted in a frame), but certainly, any restorer could paperback the poster, and after slight restoration, it will look fantastic!
