Apply to your nearest Navy recruiting station"; "You may also volunteer for service with the Army Engineers. See your nearest Army Recruiting Station") encouraging men to enlist in the Navy Seabees, and featuring John Falter art of Seabees in battle. The United States Naval Construction Battalions (better known as the Seabees) form the U.S. Naval Construction Force. The Seabee nickname is a heterograph of the first letters "C B" from the words Construction Battalion. It was conceived as a replacement for civilian construction companies on contract to the Navy after the U.S. was attacked at Pearl Harbor. International law made it illegal for civilian workers to resist an attack (to do so would classify them as guerrillas and could lead to summary execution). The Seebee mascot is a bumblebee (holding a rifle and tools) and their motto is "Can do!". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: John Falter Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. There are areas of surface paper loss in the artwork at top and around the edges of the poster. There is slight discoloration throughout the poster from exposure to sunlight and there is some tattering around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
