An Original Vintage Linenbacked World War I Poster (measures 28" x 42 1/4" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) The Greatest Mother in the World, the 1918 U.S. World War I (WWI) Home Front charity poster ("Red Cross Christmas roll call Dec. 16-23rd") encouraging people to donate to the Red Cross so that they can provide assistance to those affected by the war, and featuring Alonzo Earl Foringer art of a larger-than-life Red Cross nurse cradling a wounded soldier on a stretcher. Artist: Alonzo Earl Foringer Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had tears and tiny paper loss in parts of the blank borders, and someone had put tape on the back of some of those areas. It had a tiny bit of paper loss in the cheek of the man on the stretcher. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer left alone the tiny bit of paper loss in the man's cheek described above (any restorer could easily touch up that area without re-backing the poster).
