An Original Vintage 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Music Publicity Still (Learn More) Sam Cooke was a legendary black African American singer-songwriter from the 1950s to the 1960s. He is commonly referred to as "The King of Soul" and had 30 U.S. top 40 hits between 1957 and 1964. He passed away in 1964 at the age of 33 when he was tragically shot and beaten to death, under extremely questionable circumstances, by a hotel manager (who claimed self-defense) in Los Angeles, California. Some of his hits include: You Send Me, A Change Is Gonna Come, Cupid, Chain Gang, Wonderful World, and Twistin' the Night Away Condition: very good.
