An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 27" x 40") (Learn More) John Carpenter's The Thing, the 1982 John Carpenter horror science fiction (sci-fi) thriller ("The Ultimate in Alien Terror."; "Man is the warmest place to hide."; set in Antarctica; "Based on the story 'Who Goes There?' by John W. Campbell Jr."; it is a re-make of the 1951 movie, "The Thing from Another World", based on the same story, and with James Arness as "The Thing") starring Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley, T.K. Carter, David Clennon, Keith David, Richard Dysart, Charles Hallahan, Peter Maloney, Richard Masur, Donald Moffat, Joel Polis, and Thomas G. Waites. This is one of Carpenter's best movies, and in many ways it is more enjoyable and superior to the original version! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Les Edwards & Jim Burns Important Added Info: Note that this British quad measures 27" x 40" but it does not appear to be trimmed. UPDATED 08/05/2011: Note that as mentioned in the Important Added Info section of the auction, this poster does not appear to be trimmed. We know that in the early 1980s some British Quads were trimmed by the printer to 27x40 specifically for use in the London Transport (aka London Underground) but we cannot say for certain that this is the case for this poster.
