An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (40x60; measures 40" x 60" [102 x 152 cm]) (Learn More) Dirty Harry, the classic 1971 Don Siegel San Francisco California police detective action crime thriller ("Detective Harry Callahan. He doesn't break murder cases. He smashes them."; "You don't assign him to murder cases. You just turn him loose."; "Dirty Harry and the homicidal maniac. Harry's the one with the badge."; about an unorthodox cop who tracks down a psychotic murderer; based on the real-life Zodiac killer who terrorized San Francisco, California in the 1960s) starring Clint Eastwood (in the title role as Harry Callahan), Harry Guardino, Reni Santoni, Andrew Robinson (in the role of his life as the crazed psycho killer!; billed as "Andy Robinson"), John Larch, John Vernon ("as 'The Mayor'"), Lyn Edington, and Bill Couch NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only once before auctioned this special 40x60 with a Time magazine review (4 years ago, when it sold for $2,287)! We have also only once before auctioned a different 40x60 that was created with a Life magazine review and that auctioned for $2,324.99 in 2004, so obviously both of these posters are extremely rare and desirable! Also note that most 40x60s from this period were printed on a heavy stock and usually only sent to theaters rolled. However, the studios would also sometimes make special 40x60s that were created on a somewhat thinner paper and were folded when they were created. Often, these would have reviews on them or have a special tie-in to a specific magazine or company. This is one of those 40x60s, and we don't think it exists in an unfolded version (but it is possible that is not correct). It was definitely folded at the poster exchange prior to being distributed to theaters.
UPDATED 12/27/2020: Note that we we have updated the Condition information. Condition: good. The poster has tiny staple holes around the edges and creases and scuffs along parts of the folds, with some creases scattered in the image. A previous owner added writing to the top left blank border and added lines and writing around the Straw Dogs ad on the poster (please see our image). These markings could certainly be removed by a restorer, but please keep this in mind when bidding. Learn More about condition grades
