An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Dough Boys, the 1930 Edward Sedgwick World War I (WWI) military screwball comedy ("A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer ALL TALKING Picture"; "Buster Keaton in a Howitzer of Howls!"; "A barrage of laughs!"; "The big parade of roars!"; "Story by Al Boasberg and Sidney Lazarus"; Buster is a rich man who goes to the unemployment office to find a chauffeur, but it has been converted into a recruiting office, and he accidentally enlists, and of course, he is the world's worst soldier!; among other comic routines, he performs a ukulele duet with Cliff Edwards) starring Buster Keaton, Sally Eilers, Cliff Edwards, Edward Brophy, and Ann Sothern (in a bit part as a dancer). Note that the IMDb claims the title of this movie is "Doughboys". However, all the advertising we have seen from the first release of the movie clearly says "Dough Boys", so we think the IMDb is simply wrong. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Malcolm Eaton Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this window card, and that was 11 years ago, when it sold for $825! Note that Malcolm Eaton created the art for this poster, and it is very difficult to find information about him! A very knowledgeable collector pointed out that he created the art for several Buster Keaton films such as Doughboys, Parlor, Bedroom and Bath, Baby Cyclone, Spite Marriage, The Cameraman and more. It is an interesting coincidence that Malcolm seems to have regularly worked on Keaton films, and their last names are very similar. If anyone knows more about the Malcolm Eaton, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: fair to good. The poster has a strip of paper loss at a diagonal in the bottom left, slightly entering the "D". It has tiny paper loss in the bottom right corner and stains and paper loss in the top left corner, affecting the blank area and slightly extending down to the very edge of the red background. There are other stains in the top blank area. There are a few small stains and scuffs scattered throughout the image. Obviously, this card can be restored, and we can supply the winner of it (and only the winner!) with a high quality scan of a complete card, which will greatly aid a restorer in performing restoration to this card.
