An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Tommy Steele Story (released in the U.S. as "Rock Around the World"), the 1957 Gerard Bryant English rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) biographical musical ("The sensational success story of Britain's teenage idol!"; "Grand entertainment the whole family will enjoy!"; "Rock 'n Roll, Skiffle, Calypso, Rhythm & Blues"; "See and hear this international rock-session!"; "14 top tunes") starring Tommy Steele, Nancy Whiskey (billed as "Nancy Whiskey singing 'Freight Train'"), Hunter Hancock, The Steelmen, Humphrey Lyttleton and Band, and Charles McDevitt Skiffle Group NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not well restored. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would surely benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had paper loss at the crossfolds and creases and small tears on most foldlines. The left and right 2" of the poster were folded back at one time. There were many creases and scuffs throughout the image. There were pinholes down the left and right sides of the image where it was folded over, and there was paper loss and creases in the bottom border. Someone just mounted this poster on to a thin linen with no real attempt at restoration of its many minor defects. If I owned this poster, I would have it re-backed. After proper linenbacking, the poster would look great! Learn More about condition grades
