An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Valley of the Dolls, the classic 1967 Mark Robson show business drug addiction camp thriller ("The all time #1 best-seller... Now a movie"; "In the Valley of the Dolls, it's instant turn-on... dolls to put you to sleep at night, kick you awake in the morning, make life seem great-instant love, instant excitement... ultimate hell!"; "The motion picture that shows what America's all time #1 best seller first put into words!"; "The nation's most startling and hotly discussed best-seller now on the screen with every shock and sensation intact!"; "NEELY O'HARA: ... who was such a nice kid - until they put her name in lights. She took the green pills. Nice kid turned lush!"; "ANNE WELLES:... good girl with a million dollar face - and all the bad breaks. She took the red pills."; "HELEN... who was a gut, fingernail and claw fighter - and went down swinging. She took the yellow pills."; "JENNIFER NORTH: ... International sex symbol - victimized by everyone. She took the blue pills. Sex symbol turned on too often!"; "Based on a Book by Jacqueline Susann"; "Screenplay by Helen Deutsch and Dorothy Kingsley") starring Barbara Parkins, Patty Duke, Paul Burke, Sharon Tate (in her fourth credited movie role), Tony Scotti, Lee Grant, Joey Bishop, George Jessel (Collectively billed as "Guest Stars Joey Bishop and George Jessel"), and Susan Hayward ("as Helen Lawson"). Note that the music for this movie was composed by John Williams (apparently his first real time doing so for a movie), and on the soundtrack CD he is billed as "Johnny Williams"! Note that "everybody" knew that the book was partially loosely based on the life of Judy Garland and other Hollywood stars, but to protect themselves, the producers added a note to the posters that read "The Producers wish to state that any similarity between any person, living or dead, and the characters portrayed in this film, is purely coincidental and not intended." NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that there is a cool snipe glued to the bottom right of the poster. Apparently, when the movie was being released, the filmmakers were threatened with a lawsuit by some of the thinly-veiled real-life inspirations for the main characters, and so they added these snipes to the posters which claim that "Any similarity between any person, living or dead, and the characters portrayed in this film is purely coincidental and not intended.". Note that this poster has never been machine folded! Most half-sheet posters were folded once horizontally and once vertically right off of the printing press. It is very difficult to find an unfolded example of most half-sheets, especially from before 1970! Condition: very good. Note that the poster is in quite nice condition!
