An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style D One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Saboteur (released in other English-speaking countries as "The Man Behind Your Back"), the 1942 Alfred Hitchcock World War II (WWII) spy espionage crime suspense thriller ("You'd like to say - It Can't Happen Here! ...but every jolting scene is True!!"; "3000 miles of terror!"; "Secret lookouts! Rats... in evening dress! Aircraft plant destroyed! A battleship blasted!"; about a factory worker who is falsely accused of sabotaging his factory and causing the death of a co-worker, but actually, he is just being set up by a group of spies; the man flees, trying to clear himself, while he is pursued by both the spies and police; he ends up thrown together with pretty Priscilla Lane, who at first thinks he is guilty, but comes to believe in his innocence) starring Priscilla Lane, Robert Cummings (Bob Cummings), Norman Lloyd (in the title role), Otto Kruger, Alan Baxter, Alma Kruger, Dorothy Peterson, Clem Bevans, Jean Trent, Will Wright, Tony Randall (uncredited and in his first role), Billy Curtis, Mary Curtis (Billy and Mary were little people, as well as husband and wife, in a circus sequence in this movie). Note that Hitchcock "borrowed" many of the plot elements of his classic British movie "The 39 Steps", updating the plot to a World War II setting. Also, the real saboteurs were intended to be Nazis in the script but the movie never mentions this. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that when this Alfred Hitchcock movie was released in 1942, Universal Pictures created two one-sheets with entirely different images (style C and style D), and we are offering an example of each in two different auctions (this auction is for the style D one-sheet). Note that all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I of eMoviePoster.com's December Major Auction were consigned to us by legendary French dealer/collector Dominique Besson. Dominique Besson started collecting movie posters in 1981, and became a dealer in French and European posters in 1994, and has remained as a top dealer ever since! But in addition, 30 years ago, Dominique began collecting U.S. one-sheets, first those with Saul Bass art, and then adding Alfred Hitchcock posters, then Humphrey Bogart, and he finally ended up collecting in an amazing total of 47 different categories, purchasing the posters from all over the world! Now the time has come to sell this wonderful collection, and Dominique has chosen eMoviePoster.com to do so, through our auctions! As noted above, all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I come from this more remarkable collection (the 28 that do not were consigned to us by other collectors, and are clearly marked). This is not all of the Dominique Besson collection we are auctioning. In addition, there are approximately 200 more folded one-sheets that will be in Part IV of this special auction (ones from the 1970s to present), and there are approximately 100 unfolded one-sheets that will be in Part III (including many great ones). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase folded one-sheets (all of which have had no professional restoration) from one of the greatest one-sheet collections assembled! Note that this one-sheet is from the category that Dominique Besson collected on that he labeled "Alfred Hitchcock". Condition: good. There is approximately 2" of separation in the lower crossfold (some of the area is fragile and could separate further) and there is lesser separation with some paper loss in the other two crossfolds. There is red marker writing on the back that slightly bleeds through to the front at lower center. There are some creases, defects, areas of paper loss and tears of varying lengths along parts of some edges.
