An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) From Farm to Fame, the 1922 Eugene V. Brewster silent romantic rags-to-riches melodrama starring Corliss Palmer. We can find no information about this movie, but we know that in 1920, Motion Picture Magazine ran a "Fame and Fortune Contest" which included a role in a film to the winner of the contest (we have auctioned all the issues of that magazine from that time, and of course, the contest was heavily promoted in every issue!). No doubt tens of thousands of young women submitted entries, and the winner was picked by Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, and Hope Hampton, three of the top female stars of the day. They picked Corliss Palmer, who had won a beauty contest, but had no theatrical training. We don't know how she was in this movie (because it is a lost movie), but probably her acting skills were lacking, because she did not make another movie for four years! But the producers of the movie did their best to sell the picture by having a very deceptive one-sheet that showed great stone litho art of Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, and Hope Hampton, with tiny text stating that they had been judges (they DON'T appear in the movie). There is also a special "teaser" one-sheet of just Miss Palmer that was created at the same time, but that poster does not even name the movie! Miss Palmer appeared in a handful of other movies into the early 1930s, including Bromo & Juliet in 1926 with Oliver Hardy and Charley Chase. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster was folded across the middle only. It has some tears and tiny paper loss in small parts of the borders, but is otherwise in really nice condition. After a simple linenbacking, the poster will look great! Learn More about condition grades
