A Group of 8 Photographic Negatives (measure 4" x 5" [10 x 13 cm]) (Learn More) Juliet Prowse was an Indian (she was born in India to South African parents) actress from the 1950s to the 1990s. She had been in the Juliet Prowse Trio dancing in Rome, Italy, and MGM choreographer Hermes Pan saw her and recommended she be cast in the role of Shirley MacLaine's sister in Can-Can! Some of her other movies include: G.I. Blues, and The Second Time Around AND Mary Costa is an actress from the 1950s to the 2000s. Some of her movies include: Sleeping Beauty, Titus Andronicus, The Merry Widow, and The Great Waltz. As of 2020, she is still alive at the age of 88! Important Added Info: Note that these negatives are in glassine envelopes, but they are also in a paper sleeve that identifies them and also says "Shot 1-22-60 by Phil Bath", so we know the photographer for sure. Also note that this (or these, in the case of multiple negatives) was created by and sent by the studio that produced this (in the year noted on this auction) to newspapers, magazines, TV stations, or reviewers, so that they could use them to create the highest quality ads. They can be used to make very high quality reproductions, but bear in mind that we are solely auctioning the physical negatives and NOT the right to reproduce them, so unless they are public domain, the new owner must acquire the rights elsewhere before reproducing them. NOTE THAT THE ITEM YOU ARE PURCHASING IS A "NEGATIVE" THAT HAS A REVERSE IMAGE, AS SEEN IN OUR PHOTO (on most of these auctions of negatives, we scanned the negatives as well as photographing them, using a special "negative setting", which reverses the image, but in the case of this auction (and a few others), the person who owned the negatives also had positive prints of each of them, so we simply photographed the negatives side by side with the positive prints, so that you see how the negative appears by looking at the positive print).
