An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Toonerville Trolley, the 1920 Ira M. Lowry silent railroad train romantic comedy short ("The Toonerville Trolley that meets all trains"; based on the comic strip by Fontaine Fox) starring Dan Mason (as The Skipper). Note that this was one of 17 movies that were released between 1920 and 1922, all based on this then-classic comic strip. The strip was called "Toonerville Folks" (but was also known as "The Toonersville Trolley That Meets All Trains"), and it began in 1908. It was based on the then-new phenomenon of "suburbs", which were first starting to become important outside of large cities. Most of these early suburbs were quite rural, and trains ran from the city out to the suburb, but when you got off the train, there would be a local trolley that would take you to your destination in that suburb. In this strip, the trolley was run by the grizzly old Skipper, no doubt a former sailor. The strip ran until 1955! Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this short is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
