32e Festival International Du Film Cannes 1979 (Cannes Film Festival 1979) was a film festival held in Cannes, France from May 10th to the 24th. The Palme d'Or went to Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola (which was screened as a work in progress) and Die Blechtrommel (The Tin Drum) by Volker Schlondorff. Francoise Sagan, the President of the Jury, caused a controversy when she complained that Robert Favre Le Bret, the President of the Festival, had stepped out of his role and put pressure on the jury for the choice of Coppola's film.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has creases and scuffs scattered throughout. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
