An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Shining, the classic 1980 Stanley Kubrick English/U.S. family relationship insanity horror thriller ("A Masterpiece of Modern Horror"; "Based on the novel by Stephen King"; "Screenplay by Stanley Kubrick & Diane Johnson") starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd, Scatman Crothers, Barry Nelson, Philip Stone, and Joe Turkel (as Lloyd, the bartender) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Saul Bass Important Added Info: Note that we believe this one-sheet is a studio re-strike from the 1980s. It currently measures 27" x 41", but it likely originally measured 27" x 40 1/2" [69 x 103 cm], and was slightly "stretched" during the linenbacking process. While it is a re-strike from the original printing plates, it is not from the printing plates from the poster printed by the NSS! Rather, it was re-struck from the poster printed in 1980 by Warner Bros., (they were distributed at least in Canada when the movie first came out, and has a ratings box). This poster (the re-strike of the studio-printed poster distributed in Canada) was apparently created in the mid 1980s, and was may well have been sold directly to the general public, and not used in movie theaters. It is often mistakenly sold as an original release, but it is not. It is virtually the same as the studio-printed poster, except the paper is slightly "newer" and the studio-printed posters were folded, while the re-strikes were not. The reason we say "we believe" that it is a re-strike rather than "we know" is because it has been linenbacked, and that makes it hard to tell, but we feel certain that it is not the original studio release poster or the original Warner Bros. release poster. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept that it is almost surely a studio re-strike. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had two horizontal folds in the lower half, but they are not machine folds. It also had pinholes, creases, and scuffs around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
