Passport to Pimlico, the 1949 Henry Cornelius English Ealing Studios England/France border dispute crime black comedy ("Laugh your way to happiness"; "French goings on in the heart of London!"; "To a dreamland of happiness; to a screamland of hilarious confusion!; it's the wittiest comedy in years!"; about the residents of a section of London that discover a treaty indicating that their neighborhood is not technically part of England, and they declare themselves an independent country, thus requiring visitors to get a passport to enter!) starring Stanley Holloway, Hermione Baddeley (billed as "Hermione 'Quartet' Baddeley"), Margaret Rutherford, Paul Dupuis, Basil Radford, Naunton Wayne, and Raymond Huntley

Important Added Info: Note that this poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this English movie, is extremely rare. We have auctioned a single English three-sheet and double crown, but we have never before auctioned this one-sheet! Also, note that the poster has a stamp on the back that reads "52 257". We know that the movie was released in the U.S. in 1949, but this stamp would seem to indicate that it was re-released in the English colonies (perhaps Canada, the U.S., and maybe others) in 1952, but we have never seen anything indicating a re-release in that year. But this poster is definitely the first English one-sheet from 1949, and the stamp on the back merely indicates that it was reused three years later (if that stamp is an NSS-like number).

Condition: good. It appears that part of the poster was displayed behind chicken wire, because there is a faint chicken wire pattern in the top blue background area (see our image). There is tiny separation at the bottom crossfold. There are some tiny areas of paper loss in the blank borders and a few tiny tears in the borders, with a 1" tear in the center of the top border, a 2" tear near the center of the right border, and 4" of separation at the bottom of the vertical fold.
