An INCOMPLETE Original Vintage Folded Circus Poster (measures 63" x 311 1/4" [160 x 791 cm]) (Learn More) Cirque Ancillotti Plege (literally translates to "Ancillotti Plege Circus" and sometimes known simply as "Cirque Ancillotti"). This is one of many 1920s French circus posters promoting a show, and featuring artwork of circus clowns, animals, and other performers. Note that the Plege circus was well-known in France in the 1900s. After the death of Antoine Plege, his widow and then his son ran the show. In 1908, Plege's daughter married Ugo Ancillotti and they eventually created the Cirque Ancillotti Plege. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an INCOMPLETE poster. It was apparently originally a French seven-panel, but only six pieces of the seven are present, plus there is a seventh panel from a different, but similar poster. We did the best we could to match up the pieces, but how we did it may be incorrect. What matters is that you are bidding on an incomplete seven-panel, where six panels are present, plus a seventh unrelated panel. Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster, which we have never auctioned before! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Condition: poor to fair. The poster is INCOMPLETE (see above). Learn More about condition grades
