An Autographed 3" x 5" Card Matted with Photo (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Sophia Loren is an Italian actress and sex symbol from the 1950s to the present. At age 14, Sophia Loren entered a beauty contest where she placed as one of the finalists. It was there that Sophia caught the attention of film producer Carlo Ponti, some 22 years her senior. They married in 1957 when she was 23, but had to divorce five years later when he was threatened with bigamy charges because the church did not recognize his divorce! In 1966 he finally obtained a divorce from his first wife and they were re-married, and remained married until Ponti's passing in 2007, when he was 94! She stood out from all the other sex symbols of her era because she could truly act, and she deservedly won the Best Actress Oscar! But decades before Jacqueline Bisset made headlines in her see-through diving suit, Loren shocked the world (but thrilled all American males!) when she appeared in her see-through shirt in 1957's Boy on a Dolphin! Some of her film roles include: El Cid, La Ciociara, Boy on a Dolphin, Two Women (in which she won the Best Actress Academy Award), and Marriage Italian Style. As of 2021, she is still alive at the age of 86! Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Sophia Loren! Note that this signature came with a "certificate of authenticity", and it is attached to the back of the mat. We have photographed both sides of the item so you can see the certificate. About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 3 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1960s on. During that time, he would regularly attend collectibles shows as a dealer, and while he was at those shows, he would sometimes purchase autographed movie items from other exhibitors at those shows. He would also have items autographed by celebrity guests at those shows. Now, decades later, the dealer has consigned these autographed items to us. So all of these 4 autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained in person by this memorabilia dealer at collectible shows, or were purchased from dealers selling autographed items at collectible shows, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic! Note that each of the 4 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. Condition: very good. Someone had the signature sheet matted with an image from Two Women. The top mat is loose, but could be easily re-attached. There are creases in the top right corner of both mats. Learn More about condition grades
