An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Torchy Blane in Chinatown, the 1939 William Beaudine female mystery reporter crime thriller (based on characters created by Frederick Nebel; Original story "The Purple Hieroglyph", one of a series featuring the same main character, by Murray Leinster) starring Glenda Farrell (in the title role as Torchy Blane), Barton MacLane, Henry O'Neill, Patric Knowles, and Tom Kennedy. Note that the first Torchy Blane movie was made in 1937, called "Smart Blonde", and it starred Glenda Farrell in the lead role. There were a total of nine Torchy Blane movies. Farrell played the lead in seven of them. In two of the ones near the end of the series, Jane Wyman and Lola Lane filled in for Farrell, perhaps because she had other commitments. The series only lasted for two years, but was quite popular. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. areas of separation and tears (up to two inches) in the folds and around the edges; six inch tear in the bottom center of the poster; area of paper loss in the left of the middle fold This one-sheet is in "lesser" condition (what many dealers would describe as "good" or "good to very good", or in the case of items with more serious defects, which should be easily seen on our large images, "fair")! It has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right. In addition, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above, as some of these defects may not be all that visible in the images (looking at the super-sized image will likely tell you right away whether it is in "good to very good", "good", or "fair" condition). We know that some collectors could accept this item's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this one-sheet if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this one-sheet because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this one-sheet offered again!
