Date Sold 1/28/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 4 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has one page. (Learn More) Marinai Senza Stelle (released in the U.S. as "S.O.S. Submarine"), the 1948 Francesco De Robertis Italian underwater military suspense thriller ("Amazing! Daring! True!"; "Suspenseful drama of 13 doomed men aboard a sunken sub ...and their women who waited"; "See! Men torpedoed to safety! See! Divers in death defying rescue at 40 fathoms deep! See! Men trapped 3 1/2 days in flooded sub!"; "An entertainment experience you'll always remember!"; "This is not a war story!") starring Antonio Gandusio, Cesarina Gherardi, Vittorio Mattiussi, Tito Stagno, and Otello Venturi. Note that this is a VERY odd movie! That is because it started filming in Italy in 1943, but was then abandoned because of the war. Filming resumed in 1945, but it was not completely finished until 1948, when it was first released in the U.S. (by Screen Guild Productions), and then it finally had its first Italian release in late 1949! Important Added Info: Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut and it is folded across the middle. Learn More about condition grades
