An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41 1/4" [69 x 105 cm]) (Learn More) For the Soul of Rafael, the 1920 Harry Garson silent romantic love triangle melodrama ("From Marah Ellis Ryan's greatest fiction successes A Magnificent Love Story of Old California"; the movie borrows much from Romeo & Juliet and other classic romantic melodramas; a nun leaves a convent to marry a wild son of a rich Mexican nobleman, and she falls in love with a poor man, and she is tricked into thinking the poor man has died, and she marries the rich son, and when she learns the poor man is still alive, she stays true to her husband, but after he is killed by bandits, she is free to be with her true love) starring Clara Kimball Young ("In her latest and by far greatest picture"; "In her latest and greatest photo dramatic triumph"), Bertram Grassby (in the title role as Rafael Artega), Eugenie Besserer, Juan de la Cruz, J. Frank Glendon, Ruth King, and Helene Sullivan NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster measures 27" x 41 1/4" [69 x 105 cm]. Condition: good. The poster has quite a bit of light water staining scattered down the center of the poster, but it is not very visible at all from the front, except in the center of Young's credit (see our image). There is 2" of horizontal separation at the top crossfold and tiny paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds, with slightly larger paper loss at the middle crossfold. There are some tiny bits of paper loss in parts of some foldlines and a 2" vertical tear in the right of the top and bottom foldlines. There are brown water stains in the center of the left and right borders, extending into the image. There are horizontal scuff marks across the upper part of the image (above Young's head), which are a printing defect. There are tears around the edges of the poster. Certainly, this poster has real defects, but this is the sort of poster that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the water staining can be removed through chemical means, after which the poster will look fantastic, but bear the above condition defects, and the cost of restoration in mind before placing a bid on this poster.
