eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 7z353 EMPTY SADDLES LC '36 image of cowboy Buck Jones leading band w/pistols! Date Sold 5/15/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Empty Saddles, the 1936 Lesley Selander cowboy western ("From a Novel by Cherry Wilson") starring Buck Jones, Louise Brooks (the legendary beauty in one of her final roles), Harvey Clark, Gertrude Astor, Chas Middleton, Frank Campeau, Niles Welch, Lloyd Ingraham, Ben Corbett, and Robert Adair. Note that pre-talkie star Louise Brooks turned her back on Hollywood in 1929, and went to Europe and made some memorable films. In the early 1930s she attempted to return to Hollywood (minus her trademark flapper hairdo), but met with little success. She is prominently billed in this movie, but is not pictured on the posters. Also note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good to fine. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
