The Man Who Wouldn't Die, the 1942 Herbert I. Leeds detective supernatural ghost mystery crime thriller ("Mike Shayne meets something new in chills!"; "Based on a novel by Clayton Rawson and the character 'Michael Shayne' created by Brett Halliday") starring Lloyd Nolan (as Detective Michael Shayne), Marjorie Weaver, Helene Reynolds, Henry Wilcoxon, Richard Derr, and Francis Ford. Note that "Michael Shayne: Private Detective" was the first in a series of twelve detective movies based on the character created by Brett Halliday. Lloyd Nolan played the character in the first seven movies between 1940 and 1942. There was then a 4 year gap and the series resumed in 1946, with Hugh Beaumont (best remembered as the father in TV's "Leave it to Beaver") taking over the role and he starred in five movies in 1946 and 1947.
