R50s Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) Captain America, the 1944 Elmer Clifton & John English Marvel Comics (at the time known as "Atlas Comics"!) comic book superhero crime fighting fantasy serial ("Based on the Character appearing in Captain America Comics"; "A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters") starring Dick Purcell (in the title role as Captain America; he died just a few months after shooting finished), Lorna Gray, Lionel Atwill, Charles Trowbridge, George J. Lewis, and John Hamilton. Note that this was the very first Marvel Comics character to be turned into a movie, and we don't know how faithful the adaptation was (in the movie, Captain America uses a gun, and we don't remember him ever doing that in the comics!). Important Added Info: What is really bizarre about this poster is that there is an image of Captain Marvel at the bottom of the poster! Captain Marvel was published by Fawcett Comics, and he in no way was connected with Captain America! Perhaps the poster artist just took it on himself to add him on the poster (there had been a separate Captain Marvel film in 1941) Condition: very good. There is minor separation at each crossfold. The poster was lightly folded in half an extra time. There are minor creases in the foldlines and borders. There are several small tears in the borders.
