Date Sold 6/10/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Love Affair, the 1932 Thornton Freeland aviation pilot flying romantic love triangle melodrama ("Youth's cry of freedom!"; "Based on the story by Ursula Parrott") starring Dorothy Mackaill, Humphrey Bogart, Jack Kennedy, Barbara Leonard, and Hale Hamilton. This was Bogart's 10th movie. He had a starring role in a "A Devil with Women" in 1930, and in several others including this one, but he didn't really hit it big, perhaps because he had a different image from the persona he achieved stardom with. After failing to achieve major success in Hollywood, a disillusioned Bogart returned to Broadway, and then hit it big in "The Petrified Forest", and the rest, as they say, is history! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a different scene card (in "fair" condition) and a few stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper) until we received this best scene card (and we also were consigned the title card, which we are currently auctioning in a different auction)! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. What IS gelbacking? Learn More Condition: good to very good. The card had pinholes, faint smudges, and tiny dot stains scattered around the edges, with a few in the image. Overall, the card was in good to very good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still exactly looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can see slight signs of the restoration from close up, but from any reasonable viewing distance, this ultra rare card displays well! Learn More about condition grades
