It's also the story of that girl he met on a blind date!"; "The True Romance of The Year"; about Chicago White Sox baseball pitcher Monty Stratton, who lost his leg; with an Academy Award winning screenplay by Douglas Morrow) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; in the title role as Monty Stratton), June Allyson, Frank Morgan, Agnes Moorehead, Bill Williams, Gene Bearden (as himself), and Holmes Herbert (uncredited as the doctor). Note that Gene Bearden was the real life baseball World Series hero from the 1949 Cleveland Indians, and also was Rookie of the Year.
