An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Sunset Boulevard (sometimes spelled as "Sunset Blvd."), the classic 1950 Billy Wilder (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) Hollywood Los Angeles California behind-the-scenes movie-making romantic love triangle crime film noir ("A most unusual picture"; "A Hollywood Story"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring William Holden (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Gloria Swanson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Erich von Stroheim (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Nancy Olson (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Fred Clark, Lloyd Gough, Jack Webb, Cecil B. DeMille (the legendary director, playing a great cameo role as himself!), Hedda Hopper, Buster Keaton, Anna Q. Nilsson, H.B. Warner, and Franklyn Farnum. This is surely one of the finest movies ever made, with remarkable performances, writing, and direction, and if you haven't seen it, you should! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. Someone apparently REALLY didn't like Gloria Swanson's character in this movie, for they drew a large "X" over her stomach, one over her neck and upper chest, one over her face, and one over each hand! It is not clear what instrument they used to make these "X"s; it could have been a pencil, pen, or just a sharp object. There are a few marks running from Swanson's dress across Olson's chest which look like pencil, so that is a real possibility for the "X"s. The person who linenbacked the poster (which also had creases along both foldlines and some smudges and tears in the borders and pinholes in the corners) did their best to cover over the "X"s described above, but it was not a very good restoration job (the best part about it is that they did not put on lots of restoration, and hopefully it will be easy to remove). If I owned this great poster, I would immediately have a talented restorer remove it from the current backing (and there is no excess linen around the edges), and have them take off the low quality restoration, and then expertly restore it, and the resulting poster will look fantastic (and if the restorer does their job carefully and well, the poster WON'T look heavily restored, especially because the image and title area of the poster are basically in pretty good condition outside of the above significant defects). Please be sure to closely examine our super-sized image of this poster BEFORE placing a bid, so you can clearly know the extent of the damage and restoration. This IS a WONDERFUL poster, and it absolutely can and will be rescued, but I want to be sure the person purchasing it is fully aware of its exact condition! Learn More about condition grades
