Date Sold 2/21/2012Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Captive Wild Woman, the 1943 Edward Dmytryk Universal mad scientist horror thriller ("Shockingly Savage"; a wild movie about a mad scientist who is convinced that animals have a huge amount in common with human beings, and he injects an intelligent female gorilla with a serum he invented, and it turns the gorilla into a beautiful girl, but when she is "aroused", she returns to her original state!) starring Evelyn Ankers, John Carradine, Milburn Stone, Lloyd Corrigan, Martha MacVicar, Vince Barnett, Acquanetta (billed as "Introducing Acquanetta as the Gorilla Girl"), Fay Helm, and Ray Corrigan (uncredited as "Cheela" the ape). Note that this movie has one of the most sought after and wonderful images of the 1940s (with a gorilla holding a beautiful girl), but it really doesn't in any way give an idea of what the movie is actually about! Also note that Clyde Beatty staged the wild animal scenes in this movie, and footage was used that showed the real Beatty, so character actor Milburn Stone was cast in a major part, because he resembled Beatty enough that the stock footage would pass! Acquanetta never speaks during the movie (not surprising, since her character is actually a gorilla transformed into a human)! Finally, note that Crash Corrigan made a REALLY wise investment in the 1930s, when he bought a "gorilla suit". In many of the movies in the 1940s where there is a fake gorilla, it is played by Crash Corrigan, no doubt because he could supply the suit! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
