An Original Vintage Unfolded World War I Poster (measures 28" x 41 1/4" [71 x 105 cm]) (Learn More) If You Can't Go Across With A Gun, the 1917 U.S. World War I (WWI) Home Front poster ("Come across with your part of the Red Cross war fund") encouraging citizens to donate to the American Red Cross fund. Note that this poster features C. W. Love art of refugees and an injured soldier with the Statue of Liberty in the background. Artist: C. W. Love Condition: good. There is light rippling and slight discoloration scattered in portions of the poster due to exposure to moisture. It has a few creases and tears of varying lengths (generally 1" or less but one is large at bottom - see our image). Many of the tears or other defects as described above have been repaired with several pieces of older tape from the back and some of that tape slightly bleeds through to the front. There is small pinholes at upper left. This is the kind of poster that responds really well to restoration. It is likely that many or most of the stains and rippling can be removed chemically during the linenbacking process and otherwise the artwork is "all there" and still in generally nice condition given its age, and after proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
