What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had separation on parts of the horizontal folds and someone put pieces of tape on the back of those areas and it bled through to the front in varying degrees. There was also a few pieces of tape in the borders mending tears that did the same thing. There was a collector's stamp in the top left corner and some pencil writing in the lower left border. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone linenbacked the poster with no excess, and they did restoration to the tape stains in the bottom fold between the letters, but they left alone the other tape stains and the border defects. The restoration paint used in the bottom fold has aged differently from the poster, so it is noticeable (see our image). If I owned this extremely rare poster, I would surely have a professional remove it from the old linen and properly re-back it, and after restoration by a top professional, it will display really well. However, bear all of the above in mind before bidding on this poster.
