(released in India as "The Invisible Terror"), the 1941 John English & William Witney detective mystery crime action serial ("A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters"; "Based on cartoon strip by Chester Gould"; in this one, Dick Tracy battles a mysterious gangster called "The Ghost", who has the power to make himself invisible) starring Ralph Byrd (in the title role as Dick Tracy), Ralph Morgan, Jan Wiley, John Davidson (as Lucifer), Kenneth Harlan, Michael Owen, C. Montague Shaw, Anthony Warde, and Forrest Taylor. Note that this was the last Dick Tracy serial! It is surprising that it took six years for it to reach the screen in 1937's "Dick Tracy", but once it did, it proved very popular and was followed by three more serials over the next four years, and then after a four year break, the first Dick Tracy feature film was released, which again proved extremely popular, and there were three sequels to that. There were animated cartoons on TV in the 1950s and in 1990, Warren Beatty made a live action movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
