Auction History Result #006 BIRDS 1sh '63 Hitchcock, Taylor Date Sold 11/13/2001Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet (27" x 41") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, the classic 1963 Alfred Hitchcock suspense horror thriller ("Nothing you have ever witnessed before has prepared you for such sheer stabbing shock!"; "'It could be the most terrifying motion picture I have ever made!' - Alfred Hitchcock"; "'...and remember, the next scream you hear may be your own!'"; "The birds is here!"; "Daphne Du Maurier's shattering psychic thriller."; "Based on Daphne Du Maurier's Classic Suspense Story!") starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, Tippi Hedren (billed as "Introducing 'Tippi' Hedren, A Fascinating New Personality"), Veronica Cartwright (13 years old), and Richard Deacon. Note that Alfred Hitchcock used the two taglines "The birds is coming!" and "The birds is here!" on several different types of advertising for this movie, no doubt because he thought it was funny that while it is technically grammatically correct when referring to the movie, they "sound wrong"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. There are smudges and pinholes in the blank borders (some extend into the image background). There is 1/2" of separation at the bottom crossfold. There is a piece of tape and a small piece out in the right center of the blank white area. There is a 2 1/2" x 1/2" piece out of the top right corner with a 1" thin sliver out just to the left of the larger piece. There are two 1" tears in the left of the top blank border. There are a few tiny stains in the blank borders. There is a tiny piece out of the bottom left corner. There is a small piece out above Hedren's shoulder in the bottom right corner inset image. There are a pair of staple holes in Hitchcock's suit. Given that most of these defects are in the borders or blank background, I feel sure this poster could be restored and appear "mint on linen".
