An Undated (probably 1949) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Bowery At Midnight, the 1942 Wallace Fox New York City horror crime thriller (borrowing from several Lon Chaney Sr. movies, Lugosi is a kindly professor who runs a soup kitchen by day, and a criminal mastermind by night; in a plot twist, he murders his henchmen and turns them into zombies!) starring Bela Lugosi, John Archer, Wanda McKay, Tom Neal, and Vince Barnett NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, likely both because the restorer did not do a good job at all, and because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had separation, tears, and areas of paper loss on parts of several foldlines, diagonal creases above and below the left of the top foldline, and tears and areas of paper loss in the borders, more so in the top and bottom borders. The poster was not well backed at all, because you can still see some or all of the defects generally described above (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects), and if there was restoration of the above defects, it was not done very well. Certainly, a talented restorer could perform additional restoration (either with or without re-backing the poster), but it might be fairly expensive to have this done, so bear that in mind before you place a bid.
