Date Sold 11/23/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1919 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical Folded French Large Movie Poster (31x47; measures 31 1/2" x 47" [80 x 119 cm]) (Learn More) Lest We Forget, the 1918 Leonce Perret silent World War I (WWI) anti-Germany sinking-of-the-Lusitania espionage spy thriller (about the early part of World War I, and centered around the sinking of the Lusitania by a German U-boat) starring Rita Jolivet, Hamilton Revelle, L. Rogers Lytton, Kate Blancke, and Cliff Saum. Note that leading lady Rita Jolivet actually did survive the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915, and that L. Rogers Lytton, who played the evil German officer, was actually a U.S. officer who was given leave to make this movie! Of course, this movie was made in order to stir up anti-German sentiment among the Allies and to get people more involved in supporting the war, and we are sure it accomplished that! Artist: Mi Mahut Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this poster, which is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II (mostly only pre-war heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Condition: good. There is paper loss down the right border, but it is almost entirely in the blank border (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
