The Egg and I, the classic 1947 Chester Erskine romantic city-folks-move-to-the-country hillbilly screwball comedy ("a best seller becomes a best picture!"; "From the Best Selling Book by Betty MacDonald"; "Produced and Written for the Screen by Chester Erskine and Fred F. Finklehoffe") starring Claudette Colbert, Fred MacMurray, Marjorie Main (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Ma Kettle), Louise Albritton, Percy Kilbride (as Pa Kettle), Billy House, and Richard Long. Note that the minor characters in this movie, Ma & Pa Kettle, proved to be so popular that they were given their own movie two years after this one, and there was a long running series of hillbilly "Kettles" comedies!
