During World War II in Belgium, there was a massive paper shortage, and so they used whatever paper they could find to print the movie posters, and in many cases they used old maps, and printed the movie posters on the reverse. They often also made the posters smaller, so they could get more posters printed. This practice continued for a couple of years after World War II. Since these posters are original, and since all such posters are printed on the back of maps or other posters, this is not considered a defect by almost all collectors. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was printed on the back of a map , and it has a major effect on the image, in that the printing from the back shows through in all the light skin-colored areas, and in parts of the rest of the poster, and in all of the blank borders. The poster's blank top was neatly trimmed off. Other than the bleed through described above, the poster was in pretty nice condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept the bleed through described above! Learn More about condition grades
