Note that this cartoon had an odd genesis! It is loosely based on a poem written in 1877 during the Russo-Turkish War, which tells the story of a Russian nobleman and an Arab sultan who, because of their pride, end up in a fight and kill each other. It was later set to music, and became a popular folk song, and this cartoon was based on that poem/song, which is played during the cartoon! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
