Date Sold 3/4/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 9 3/4" x 12 3/4" [25 x 32 cm]) (Learn More) Too Much Money, the 1926 John Francis Dillon silent New York City marriage romantic comedy ("Adapted from the play by Israel Zangwill"; about a millionaire who pretends to be broke by giving his money to his friend so he can stop his wife from spending so much, and he even gets a job in a delicatessen and lives on the Lower East Side; but then his friend try to run away with all his money AND his wife, but the wife stays loyal and gets the money back from the unscrupulous friend and, with their regained money, they set off on a round-the-world trip) starring Lewis Stone, Anna Q. Nilsson, Robert Cain, Derek Glynne, and Edward Elkas. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Also note that Israel Zangwill, who wrote the source play, is a fascinating person in Jewish history. He was one of the main Jewish leaders of the Zionist movement at the turn of the twentieth century, along with Theodor Herzl, wanting the Jewish people to have a homeland in Palestine. But in 1916, he felt that this was based on the deception, because Palestine was home to 600,000 Arabs, and he said giving the Jewish people Palestine would displace those Arabs of their homeland, so he completely renounced his earlier support of Zionism! Our consignor purchased this card from a collector who had obtained these autographs decades ago. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we feel certain the signature is authentic. Also note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 9 3/4" x 12 3/4" [25 x 32 cm]. Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned two scene lobby cards and a few stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper) until we received this scene card (and we are currently auctioning a signed title card and two signed scene cards in three separate auctions)! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good. The card was trimmed on all four sides. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
