An Undated (probably 1990s) Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Spanish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 40" [70 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) La Dolce Vita (sometimes referred to as "Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita"; literally translates to "The Sweet Life"), the classic 1960 (released in the U.S. in 1961) Federico Fellini (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) French/Italian romantic melodrama ("Uncut uncensored now for all to see... the nights, the drunken revels, the sin and the sinners, the perverted decadence of the jet set rich who live what they call 'the sweet life'"; "The most talked about - the most shocked about film of our years"; about a successful Italian movie critic who is dissatisfied with the emptiness of his life, even though he is surrounded by rich and famous people and has a beautiful girlfriend, and he yearns to understand why) starring Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg, Anouk Aimee, Yvonne Furneaux, Magali Noel, Lex Barker, Jacques Sernas, Alain Cuny, Annibale Ninchi, Walter Santesso, Nadia Gray, and Franca Pasut. Note that Astor Pictures, which had been known for mostly re-releasing classic U.S. movies in the 1940s and 1950s, acquired the rights for the first American release of this classic Italian movie, which they released on April 19, 1961. The buyer of one of those posters had it linenbacked and has now reconsigned it to us, so this is still only one of two examples we have ever auctioned! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had an extra horizontal fold across the middle and a diagonal crease in the bottom of the title extending into the "T". Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking.
