An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures approximately 29" x 43") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock romantic crime mystery thriller ("It's a web of romance and suspense that spins you from delight to danger - then spirals to an explosive climax on the fabulous Riviera!"; "Based on the novel by David Dodge"; "Screenplay by John Michael Hayes"; about a retired jewel thief living on the Riviera, and there is a string of daring jewel robberies, so naturally, he is the lead suspect, and he decides to find the true thief himself, and he is aided by a beautiful rich young woman and her mother!) starring Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Jessie Royce Landis, John Williams, Charles Vanel, Brigitte Auber, Rene Blancard, Georgette Anys, and Jean Martinelli. Note that Cary Grant had announced his retirement from movies in 1953, but he was lured out of retirement by Hitchcock to make this one. Also note that Jessie Royce Landis, who had played Grant's mother in "North by Northwest", this time played his potential mother-in-law, and yet, she was only eight years older than Grant, who had aged very well! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair. At some point, someone drew a pencil mark starting from Kelly's upper lip and going into a large spiral, covering much of her cheek. It appears that someone else attempted to erase with pencil, but left a clear sign where the mark was. The poster also had paper loss at the bottom crossfold and tiny paper loss at the middle crossfold, with pinholes and some tears around the edges of the poster, and some creases and tiny tears on parts of some foldlines. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The person who backed the poster did not attempt to restore the mark on Kelly's lip and cheek (although a talented restorer could probably perform paint restoration that would mostly hide it.
