An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Storm at Daybreak, the 1933 Richard Boleslawski (billed as "Richard Boleslavsky") World War I (WWI) romantic love triangle melodrama (based on the play "Fekete szaru Csereszyne" by Sandor Hunyady; set in Serbia right after the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand and the outbreak of World War I; about a Serbian mayor and his Hungarian best friend who are now on opposite sides, and the friend has an affair with the mayor's wife, but amazingly, the mayor forgives him and gives his life so they can be together) starring Kay Francis ("A girl-wife yearning for romance"), Nils Asther, Walter Huston, Phillips Holmes, and Eugene Pallette. Note that Phillips Holmes had made an impression in some movies in the late 1920s. In 1931, he would get the lead in the first version of "An American Tragedy", which made it seem like he would become a major star, but that didn't materialize. He had a major affair with Libby Holman, but that was certainly complicated, and when they broke up, she immediately married his brother! Oddly, years later, Holman would have another very complicated affair with Montgomery Clift, who played the same part in the remake of "An American Tragedy", retitled "A Place in the Sun". Sadly, Holmes died in a plane crash in 1942. I am very surprised no one has made a movie about his life, or a joint movie about him and Libby Holman! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. Someone trimmed a small bit of the cardboard from the left (for unknown reasons), but otherwise, the slide is in pretty good condition. Learn More about condition grades
