An Original (circa 1932-1933) Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Mickey Mouse is an animated animation cartoon character created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. He first appeared in the cartoon short Steamboat Willie which was one of the first cartoons with synchronized sound and the first cartoon to feature a fully post-produced soundtrack. He was massively merchandised in the 1930s, and was a major part of the success of the Walt Disney studio. After his starring role in Fantasia (in the Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence), his popularity waned somewhat, but he remained the mascot of the studio, and has always been central to the studio (for example, Disney had a "Mickey Mouse Club" TV show where the children wore mouse ears).
Important Added Info: Note that we know this still is from between 1932 and 1934, because that is when United Artists distributed their cartoons, but we don't know what cartoon it is from. If anyone does know, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that it can be very difficult to tell on 1930s Walt Disney stills if they are from the very first release, or if they are from a 1950s re-release (they can look almost identical). These stills come to us from a decades-long still collector who is certain they are from the first release of this cartoon, and we know him to be a great expert in this field, and we guarantee that what he says is true! Note that this item is in eMoviePoster.com's special "all animation" auction! The idea for this auction began when we were consigned a remarkable collection of original 1940s Walt Disney pressbooks, mini lobby cards, and standees (and almost all of those are extremely rare ones that are hardly ever auctioned, and they almost all are in really nice condition). Once we knew we had those items, we contacted all our past consignors, and asked them to consign to this very special auction, and they REALLY came through, consigning a wonderful assortment of cartoon movie paper of all sorts. Buying from this special auction gives you an incredibly rare opportunity to obtain some of the finest cartoon animation movie paper we have ever seen, and all of them will have new owners when these auctions close, because all start at $1 with no reserve. Many of these items will likely not be auctioned again for many years to come!

Condition: very good. There is unevenness in the emulsion in the bottom right corner, extending into the bottom corner of the image, but it is mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light. Otherwise, the still is in nice condition!
