An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Six-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 81" x 81") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest, the classic 1959 Alfred Hitchcock New York City South Dakota romantic crime suspense thriller ("The Master of Suspense weaves his greatest tale... about a secret that nobody knew... a man who never existed... and a love affair that began in an upper berth - and ended in screaming death!"; "From the killer plane in the cornfield to the cliff-hanger on George Washington's nose, it's suspense in every direction!"; "The master of suspense spins his greatest tale"; "A train may be an old-fashioned way to travel, but an upper berth can be a lovely way to go - When It's Your Time To Go......"; "Breathless excitement that races from glittering Manhattan to the great stone faces of Mt. Rushmore!"; "Written by Ernest Lehman") starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, Jessie Royce Landis, Leo G. Carroll, Martin Landau, Edward Platt, and Phillip Ober NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This six-sheet was printed in 4 sections. Condition: good. There are many areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. There was a corner of one piece separated in an uneven tear (it falls in the top center of the poster, and extends into the "NSE" of "SUSPENSE", but otherwise is solely in the red and black background below it). There was a 24" vertical tear near the above tear in the black background to the right of "TALE!", extending all the way up in the white background above it to the top of the poster and both of the above tears were repaired with tape from the back. There was a similar 30" tear running in a semi-circle through the top credits area that was also repaired with tape from the back. There were many small tears in the vertical foldline running through Grant's jacket, and there is tape on the back of many of those tears. There is also tape on the back of parts of some foldlines which had separation. There are some places in the borders of the poster where tape was roughly removed, and this accounts for much of the paper loss around the edges of the poster, and some of those places have some sticky tape residue. Basically, it appears that the poster was once taped to a wall and that someone very carelessly pulled it down, causing paper loss and the long tears described above. But fortunately, the bulk of the image and writing are "all there", and most of the paper loss is in blank white border area. After linenbacking by a top professional, this poster will look great, and there will not be much paint restoration anywhere in the image or writing. This poster has some significant imperfections. We may have written a few words about those imperfections, but we may not have, as you can likely see them by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster. It DOES have clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right (if the item has significant defects that are difficult to see in our image, then we try to describe those in words elsewhere within the auction). Note that some of these posters have tape repairs on the back, and we note more significant repairs, but we do not note just a few small pieces of tape on the back of a poster. PLEASE DO NOT USE WISHFUL THINKING WHEN LOOKING AT THE CONDITION OF THIS POSTER! It DOES have significant defects, and they may be such that you would not be happy with this item. We know that some collectors could accept this item's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this poster if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you feel sure you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this poster because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this poster offered again!
