Artist: Joseph Caroff & Mitchell Hooks Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by production designer Ken Adam! Our consignor obtained this autograph in March 2001 at the Art Directors Guild Film Society Event to honor Ken Adam. This poster comes from a remarkable collection of 81 one-sheets (and one reproduction), which we are currently auctioning in 82 separate auctions. Our consignor was a college professor for a number of years, who was a close friend of Ray Harryhausen, and who became friendly with many Hollywood directors, actors, and crew members. He had a collection of movie posters in the 1970s, and when he would have a chance to meet an actor, director, or crew member, he would find one-sheets in his collection from movies that person had worked on, and he would bring it to their meeting, and ask the person to sign (and on several occasions, he was able to get more than one signature on a single poster), and some of the people who signed wrote an inscription, sometimes personalized to our consignor. He has passed away, and he did not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are 100% certain all the signatures on his 81 one-sheets are authentic, because they were acquired in person by our consignor. This is a rare opportunity to obtain vintage one-sheets with authentic signatures! Note that there are two different (yet very similar) first release one-sheets for Dr. No, the first James Bond! One of them has a litho number of 62-2004, and that one looks incredibly like the other one, except the colors in the poster are slightly darker, and the biggest difference is that the smoke from Connery's gun is colored a yellow that matches the girl's leg (so that it is hard to realize it is smoke). The other one-sheet has a litho number of 62-2238, and the colors are clearly lighter, and the smoke from the gun has been changed to be white, so that it does NOT blend into the girl's leg! The only logical explanation for this is that the poster with the lower litho number was printed first, and then someone connected with the movie noticed that the smoke was not very visible, and they asked them to create a new one-sheet with different coloring so that the smoke would be more visible (and likely, at that time, they also asked them to lighten the colors, for whatever reason). The poster offered here is the "yellow smoke" version! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. Condition: fair to good. The poster has scattered light stains, and is creased and rippled throughout. It has yellowed tape stains in the borders and many staple holes around the edges, with some scattered in the image. Obviously, this very desirable poster can be "rescued" through linenbacking, and its defects are the sort that respond well to restoration by a top professional, but bear all this in mind before bidding.
