An Original 1938 (from the first release of this movie in Belgium) Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24" x 30 1/4" [61 x 77 cm]) (Learn More) Thank You, Mr. Moto, the 1937 Norman Foster Asian detective crime mystery thriller ("Based on a story by John P. Marquand"; the second entry in this series of popular movies) starring Peter Lorre (in the title role as Mr. Moto), Thomas Beck, Pauline Frederick, Jayne Regan, Sidney Blackmer, Sig Ruman (billed as "Sig Rumann"), John Carradine, Philip Ahn, Wilhelm von Brincken, and Nedda Harrigan. Note that Fox had had great success with its Chinese detective, Charlie Chan, so it seemed natural for them to start this second series featuring a Japanese detective. It did not start until 1937, perhaps because they did not have an actor suitable for the lead role, but Peter Lorre had substance abuse issues, and he was probably happy to get the work. Fox made seven movies in just three years, but then they stopped the series, likely because of the rise of anti-Japanese sentiment in the U.S., as World War II neared. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 24" x 30 1/4" [61 x 77 cm]. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster originally had a larger blank top border (where a theater could add play dates), but part of it was neatly trimmed off. There are pinholes in the corners, with some small tears and smudges in the borders. There is a piece of tape on the back of each corner, where the poster was once attached to a mat. Other than the above, the poster is in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
