An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Six-Sheet Movie Poster (6sh; measures 81" x 81" [206 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Invisible Boy, the 1957 Herman Hoffman science fiction (sci-fi) thriller ("The science-monster who would destroy the world!"; "Horror grips the earth as robot runs amok!"; "Screen Play by Cyril Hume"; "Based On The Story By Edmund Cooper") starring Richard Eyer, Philip Abbott, Diane Brewster, Harold Stone, Robert H. Harris, and Robby the Robot (who was so memorable in "Forbidden Planet" the year before). Note that there are those who speculate that one of the main reasons Robby the Robot appears in this movie is because MGM had spent a LOT of money creating him for Forbidden Planet, and they wanted to recoup some of that money by casting him in another film! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Mort Kunstler Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this six-sheet, and only one in the last 17 years! Also note that many sources credit Reynold Brown as the artist behind the great artwork on the posters created for this movie. However, the six-sheet poster shows more of the artwork and it is signed by Mort Kunstler, so it is clear that Reynold Brown was incorrectly credited on many of the posters for this movie for many years! Note that this poster needs to be shipped in a tube that measures 84" long. Therefore the shipping for this poster will be MUCH more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and it will be prohibitively expensive outside the U.S. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and pretty minor fold and border wear. However, it had a series of tears scattered across the upper one-third of the image. There was also a 6" crease with tiny surface paper loss in the background area above the "oy" of "Boy" in the title. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The person who backed the poster did not touch up the small tears in the upper part of the image and the crease described above (and they are not very noticeable, except when looking at the poster close up). One could certainly display the poster as it is, or one might choose to have a restorer touch up those small tears (of course, without re-backing the poster). Finally, note that the owner of the poster had metal grommets placed in the excess linen in each corner and in the center of three borders, so that they could display the poster without framing it.
