(Learn More) What a Widow!, the 1930 Allan Dwan Paris France romantic inheritance comedy (produced by Joseph P. Kennedy; "The Year's Prize Entertainment"; "A sensational attraction everywhere!"; about a sexy young American woman who marries a very wealthy old man, and after he dies, she takes her inheritance and moves to France, where lots of guys pursue her!) starring Gloria Swanson, Owen Moore, Lew Cody, Margaret Livingston, William Holden (no, not THAT William Holden, but another actor of the same name who made 20 movies between 1920 and 1931, and he died the next year, which was 7 years before the more famous William Holden made his first movie!), and Herbert Braggiotti. Note that producer Joseph P. Kennedy was of course the father of Joe, John, Bobby, and Teddy Kennedy, and had a well publicized love affair with Gloria Swanson for many years! Also, this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this pressbook! Also note that at this time, United Artists prepared unusual pressbooks that were different from those of the other studios. Sometimes they measured 13 1/2" x 22", and sometimes they measured 9 3/4" x 12 3/4". The larger size was folded in half, so they were not that different when sent to theaters. The larger ones had separate printed brown envelopes, with a return address from United Artists, and an image from the movie. The smaller ones had the envelope as part of the pressbook and the "cover" was the part with the return address and the image. Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle, as all examples of this pressbook were (see above). Learn More about condition grades
